Description

  • Appearance:
This plant has long, slender stems with whorls of thin, lanceolate leaves. The “green” variant maintains green leaves (sometimes with faint reddish tones under very strong lighting) rather than deep red, which is typical for many macranda strains. The leaves may be slightly curled or wavy depending on light intensity.

  • Growth & Size:
It can grow quite tall—30–60 cm or more—making it suitable for midground to background planting. When spaced well and trimmed, it forms dense, bushy masses.

  • Light & Nutrients:
Needs moderate to high lighting to bring out any potential coloration and keep the foliage compact. Fertilization (especially micronutrients) helps with leaf health and color.

  • Water Conditions:

    • Temperature: ~22-28 °C

    • pH: 6.0-7.5

    • Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water

  • 🌿 CO₂ Usage – Rotala macrandra ‘Green’

    • This plant is considered a high-demand stem plant.

    • While it can survive without CO₂ in nutrient-rich tanks, it usually grows leggy, weak, and pale.

    • For compact, bushy growth and to bring out its bright green to reddish tones, pressurized CO₂ injection is strongly recommended.

    • Recommended levels: 20–30 ppm CO₂ with good water circulation.

    • Works best when paired with intense lighting (medium-high to high) and regular macro + micro fertilization.
